1. Core Philosophy

SaveVideo is built as a clean, privacy-conscious alternative to traditional ad-laden downloader websites. We do not require accounts, we do not embed third-party surveillance scripts (like Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or advertising trackers), and we never construct behavioral advertising profiles.

2. Ephemeral Media Storage

When you request a download that requires stream merging or transcoding (such as combining high-resolution video streams with separate audio tracks via FFmpeg), temporary media fragments are written to an isolated temporary scratch directory on our server.

These temporary files exist solely to complete your stream. Once transferred to your browser, the file is immediately scheduled for deletion. An automated background garbage collector runs every 120 seconds, permanently removing any unconsumed files older than 10 minutes.

3. Technical Performance & Reliability Analytics

Public video platforms (such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram) frequently update their player scripts and anti-scraping mechanisms, which can cause extraction pipelines to break without warning. To keep SaveVideo functioning reliably, detect extractor breakage promptly, and plan server bandwidth capacity, we maintain an internal technical records database.

For each media request, we record:

Request details: Timestamp, detected platform (e.g. YouTube, TikTok), video ID, and normalized URL (with tracking UTM tags and click identifiers stripped).
Selected options: Chosen media container (MP4, MP3), resolution (1080p, 720p), and estimated versus actual file size transferred.
Non-invasive technical environment: Standard HTTP user-agent header parsed into coarse category (desktop, mobile, tablet), browser family (e.g., Firefox, Safari, Chrome), OS, screen dimensions, and language preference.
Pipeline lifecycle status: Whether the request completed successfully, failed, timed out, or encountered a platform extraction change.

Data Retention: All technical records are automatically purged after 30 days. We never sell, lease, or share this telemetry with any third party.

4. In-Memory Abuse Prevention

To protect our server infrastructure from automated denial-of-service (DoS) attacks and scraping abuse, our reverse proxy maintains short-lived request counters in volatile memory (RAM) associated with client IP addresses. These counters reset every 60 seconds and are never committed to permanent storage or database tables.

5. Third-Party Links & Content

SaveVideo processes links pointing to third-party public platforms (such as YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram). Once you leave our domain or interact with external video hosts, their respective privacy policies govern your interactions.
