What is SaveVideo?
SaveVideo is an online, browser-based media downloader inspired by the open-source Yoinks CLI. It allows you to paste a public video link, inspect available resolutions, and save the MP4 video or MP3 audio file directly to your device with zero ads.
Do I need an account or subscription?
No. SaveVideo requires no account creation, login, or subscription. It is free to use for lawful personal media archiving.
Are there download limits or daily caps?
We implement mild rate limiting (up to 25 probes and 10 downloads per minute per IP address) strictly to prevent automated scraping and abuse of our backend workers. Normal human usage is completely unrestricted.
Formats, Audio & Quality
Can I extract audio only (MP3) from a video?
Yes. Every probed video includes an "Audio Only (MP3 320kbps)" option, transcoded using FFmpeg for optimal acoustic fidelity, as well as direct source audio streams (M4A) when available.
Why does a 1080p video take a few seconds to prepare before downloading?
Platforms such as YouTube and Reddit store high-definition video (1080p) and audio streams separately. When you select 1080p, our server downloads both streams and uses FFmpeg to mux them into a single, unified MP4 with sound before streaming it to you.
Can I download 4K or 8K videos?
We report the exact resolutions made publicly available by the source platform. If a public source provides a playable 4K stream that can be processed without proprietary authentication, it will appear in the format list.
Mobile Devices (iOS & Android)
How do I save videos on iPhone or iPad?
Open SaveVideo in Safari, paste your link, and tap Download. When Safari prompts you, tap "Download". You can find the file in the Safari Downloads manager (blue down-arrow icon in the address bar) or inside your Files app under the Downloads folder. From Files, tap the Share icon and select "Save Video" to send it to your Camera Roll.
Where do downloads go on Android phones?
On Android devices running Chrome or Firefox, downloaded MP4 and MP3 files are automatically saved to your system "Download" directory and will immediately show up in your Google Photos or Gallery app.
Privacy, Security & Legal
Are my downloaded files or links permanently saved on your servers?
No. Temporary files are isolated in an ephemeral folder and deleted immediately after the file is transferred or automatically wiped after 10 minutes by a background cleanup sweeper.
Do you track my browsing history or IP address?
No. We do not log IP addresses in any database or track your browsing identity. IP addresses are held solely in volatile RAM for 60-second rate limiting. Non-invasive technical telemetry (platform, selected format, and error category) is maintained for 30 days solely to monitor pipeline uptime and detect scraper breakages.
Can I download private, protected, or copyright-restricted content?
No. SaveVideo strictly processes public media that you own or have explicit legal rights or permission to save. We do not bypass DRM, paywalls, or private-account authentication.
